Burns

Welcome to Burns!

Welcome to Burns House. After returning from a very successful residential trip, I’m very excited about the New Year ahead! This week we’ve been learning about our new topic, Why do we feel fear? The children have been incredibly excited and worked hard to gain further information about a clip that we have been studying (Alma) and we have had lots of interesting discussions about this to help with our project. It has been explained to the children that this year they shall be receiving weekly homework to help with their learning and it would be great if the children completed this with an adult, in case they encounter any difficulties. The homework will build on what we’ve been learning in class and so it’s really important for the children to complete this, to develop and extend upon their understanding. Furthermore, the Children have been given a reading diary as they should be reading for ten minutes a night, this will help with their spelling, writing, use of punctuation, imagination, along with their reading skills, which will make them more confident for the year ahead. We will still continue to have two P.E lessons a week in the Autumn term. However, from January we shall only have one session per week, as we shall be busy preparing for the upcoming SATs in May.
