Marnel Junior School

Current Year 6

Welcome to our year 6 area!

Firstly, let me introduce you to our team of teachers and learning support assistants: Miss Ferdinand (Head of year), Mrs Killeen, Miss Colins and Miss Hayward, Mrs Legge, Mrs Sard, Mrs Hiscock, Marie Wilkins and Mrs Mardell.

We have an exciting year ahead of us and are looking forward to teaching the projects which we have enthusiastically planned. The children have embraced their 'Why do we feel fear?' topic and are really enjoying it, as a team we have been impressed at the children's mature attitude towards their learning and we know they are going to have a successful year.

Please bring PE kit into school on Monday and take it home on a Friday. This means that you will not miss out on any PE opportunities . The PE days for the year group are:

Lewis: Monday and Thursday

Burns: Tuesday and Thursday

Bronte: Wednesday and Friday

Rowling: Thursday and Friday

Your child should be reading every night, whether this be a school reading book, a book from home, or even a newspaper or magazine! Please make sure that once your child has read, their reading record is signed.

Home work

Homework will be set each week to consolidate the maths, reading and SPaG skills that the children have been working on in class that week. Homework will always be set on a Wednesday and due in on a Monday so that if your child is stuck in anyway then they have time to ask their teacher for help.
