Marnel Junior School

MFL

MFL Curriculum

Children are taught French from Years 3 – 6. The teaching will provide an appropriate balance of spoken and written language and will lay the foundations for further foreign language teaching at key stage 3. It will enable pupils to understand and communicate ideas, facts and feelings in speech and writing, and focus on familiar and routine matters, using their knowledge of phonology, grammatical structures and vocabulary. The focus of study will be on practical communication. Much of the teaching is based upon the EURO STARS, Rising Stars, “New Primary French” (an audio-visual interactive scheme, which includes video stories, songs, games and exercises).
